'Allo 'Allo

Written by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft, 'Allo 'Allo chose World War II Nazi occupied France as the unlikely setting for their next sitcom after Are You Being Served. René Artois is a cafe owner in the French town of Nouvion who finds life getting extremely complicated when he has to juggle running his business with appeasing the double threat of his wife and the Nazis, plus a complicated love-life and working for the Resistance. Add to mix high farce, often centring on the hiding of a stolen painting the Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies by Van Klomp, and you have a long-running sitcom that even the French and Germans took to the hearts.
