Only Fools and Horses 40th Anniversary

We celebrate 40 years of Only Fools... you can't get lovelier or jubblier than that!

Only Fools and Horses 40th Anniversary

GOLD celebrates 40 years of Only Fools And Horses, with the very first episode of the iconic sitcom airing on Wednesday 8th September at 8.30pm - exactly the time it first transmitted to millions of homes on BBC1 back in 1981.

Big Brother introduces Peckham's finest to the world and young Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) must decide whether to go into business with brother Del (David Jason). Much to Del's chagrin, he suggests that he become the partnership's financial adviser, on the grounds of him having two GCEs (in maths and art).

Things start as they mean to go on, when Del buys a consignment of briefcases, only to later discover that the combinations are locked inside.

Gold will also show classic episodes of the British comedy on weeknights and weekends throughout the day in September.

And, every Monday, we'll have character spotlights with specially chosen episodes featuring Del, Uncle Albert, Rodney and Grandad.

The celebrations continue with The Story of Only Fools And Horses, a six-part behind-the-scenes series exploring every aspect of Britain's beloved sitcom featuring key cast members, including Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst, and rare and previously unseen material.

Also look out for Only Fools spin-off The Green Green Grass, starring John "Boycie" Challis and Sue "Marlene" Holderness as they try to adapt to country life after leaving Peckham. Weeknights at 7.20pm from Monday 13th September.

And, in Only Fools prequel Rock and Chips, we follow the exploits of the Trotter family in sixties Peckham featuring teenage versions of Del Boy, Boycie, Trigger and Denzil. From Sunday 19th September at 7.40pm.
