  • Ed Walker

    Ed Walker

Ed is 59 and owns Walker's Wheels, a nationwide branch of garages (think Kwik-Fit) which he built up from just one garage. But he's now enjoying semi-retired life. He's been with the lovely Lauren now for over six months, and lives with him (and his brother, Alan) in his rather beautiful home. Ed has two grown-up children. Ben, who lives in Spain with his wife, Rachel and son Lewis, and Belinda, a driven career girl living in Australia. Ed's other grandson, the 21-year-old Tim decided not to move to Spain with his parents and opted instead to live with his grandmother (and Ed's ex-wife), Lydia.

  • Lydia Walker

    Lydia Walker

58-year-old Lydia was married to Ed for 37 years. She was the business brains behind Walker's Wheels and she and Ed grew it together. As the business took off Lydia began to indulge and enjoy their new wealth a little too much. But her mischievous and subsequently adulterous ways became too much for Ed, and they've now been divorced for two years. However, she's convinced her 'Eddie Bear' will eventually dump Lauren and welcome back into their marital home. That's the reason she's kept her married name and rents the house next door, accompanied by grandson, Tim.

  • Alan Walker

    Alan Walker

Alan is Ed's 55-year-old brother. He lives with Ed and Lauren right now after his latest attempt to find wealth, love and happiness ended rather badly when his Latvian online girlfriend (whom he?d never actually met) scammed him out of all his life savings. Alan's never really had a successful career as such. Instead, Has hung off the coat tails of his older, wiser brother. He does the odd bit of non-descript work for Walker?s Wheels despite being a clumsy hazard around tools and machinery. But he does't really need to earn a lot to live a fairly comfortable life with Ed. For now at least.

  • Tim Walker

    Tim Walker

21-year-old Tim decided against relocating to Spain with his parents and brother five years ago. Now, he splits his time between university (when he?s not being expelled) and grandmother Lydia?s house (the one next door to Ed, remember?). Tim thinks himself a bit of a ladies man and has had numerous girlfriends and countless dates over the years. But now he's quite happy with Ellie, Lauren's beautiful niece. They're determined to stay together despite the ever-watchful eye of her parents, Deborah and Keith. Tim doesn't really do much for work. Je does has several 'awe-inspiring' entrepreneurial schemes tucked up his sleeve, but none of them likely ever to see the light of day. He's convinced he's bound to strike gold though. If not, there's always his granddad's business empire to fall back on...hopefully.

  • Rose Walker

    Rose Walker

New for series 2, Ed's eccentric mother Rose turns up on the doorstep, ready to cause all manner of chaos between her son and his girlfriend. She might be eighty but Rose has the tireless nature of a person a quarter her age. Don't trust that lovely old face, she will create turmoil.

  • Lauren Grey

    Lauren Grey

Lauren (32) decided to move in with Ed not long after they began seeing each other. She is a recently-qualified veterinary nurse after years of travel supported by many part-time jobs and very short walks down other potential career paths. She?s the only person she knows who, at one time or other, has been a hairdresser, a human guinea pig, and a clown in an east European travelling circus.

  • Emma Grey

    Emma Grey

Emma is Lauren's 61-year-old mother. She lives in the Grey family home with husband, Clive, and has lived there happily for 36 years. Emma is somewhat of a housewife, something she's very proud of. However, in her youth, before she met Clive, she was much wilder. She was a bit of a party girl who was no stranger to the booze. All that changed though when she met Clive. He was steady, dull, and the first honest, genuine man she had ever dated. She's old-fashioned and doesn't believe women can have both careers and children, so doesn't understand why her other daughter, Deborah, was desperate to start work after her children, Ellie and Charlie, were old enough.

  • Clive Grey

    Clive Grey

Clive is 62 and worked for the same bank for most of his working life. Steady job, pension, a Volvo in the driveway, fish paste sandwiches for lunch everyday for forty years and The Time crossword. Absolute bliss. Now he's got a nice, comfortable pension, a lovely home, and time to do, not only the Times crossword, but the Sudoku as well! Clive and Emma live a comfortable retirement, but being grandparents, aren't strangers to dipping their hands in their pockets, especially in the early years when Ellie was a baby.

  • Deborah & Keith Mason

    Deborah & Keith Mason

Deborah (34), or 'Debs' as she prefers and is Lauren's older sister. She lives with her husband Keith and two children Ellie (16) and Charlie (11). She has a bog-standard office job where she has to deal with Joe Public and sort out problems for the numpty managers. They don't pay her enough to work a second after 5pm. Meanwhile, Keith (35) is blue-collar sparky, plumber and general handyman. He's the cheap, cash-in-hand type who's just on the right side of Watchdog. He got his first job at 19 working as a tradesman's monkey, and has evolved into a one-man business from there. He has expensive tastes, does Keith, shelling out for new, fancy TV. Meanwhile, their bathroom could do with a lick of paint...

  • Ellie & Charlie Mason

    Ellie & Charlie Mason

Ellie is studying for her A-Levels at the moment, with hopes of going to university. She's also going out with Ed's grandson, Tim, a relationship her parents aren't too keen on. Meanwhile, young Charlie has just started secondary school.
