After years in the North Norfolk wilderness, Alan Partridge (Steve Coogan) gets his chance to grace the small screen once again and return to the BBC when John Baskell, the much-loved co-host of This Time, falls ill.
Standing in for John on the BBC's flagship evening weekday magazine show, Alan is paired with the professional and polished Jennie Gresham (Susannah Fielding) and tries to navigate his way through the inevitable fluffs, wobbles and awkward moments of live television.
For Alan, this is the opportunity of a lifetime - a chance to show the world and, more specifically, commissioning executives, that his rightful place is on primetime telly. But can he turn a fortuitous guest spot into something more permanent?
Luckily some familiar faces are on hand to help keep proceedings ticking along nicely, like a well oiled clock. Alan's sidekick on the North Norfolk airwaves, Simon Denton (Tim Key), has been commandeered to present some light-hearted features on the show and assistant Lynn Benfield (Felicity Montagu) is lurking around backstage to provide solace, support and and breath mints.
Like so many of the recent Alan outings like Mid Morning Matters and Alpha Papa, this is precision-engineered Partridge at his very best... back of the net!
