Comic Roots

An enjoyable look at the formative years of some of the UK's most popular comedians and how the places they came from influenced them. Each episode is dedicated to a different comic and gives us a guided tour of their past, from Monty Python's Michael Palin talking about his early interest in acting and comedy, taking in Shrewsbury School and Oxford to Kenneth Williams exploring his roots in and around St Pancras, London and Les Dawson revisiting a childhood marked by poverty and colourful characters in Lancashire.
