About Richard E. Grant On Ealing Comedies

In this new, three-part UKTV original series, Richard E. Grant tells the story of the legendary British film studio, Ealing Studios, and the incredible output that formed a genre all of its own and starred some of the UK's biggest stars of the early-to-mid-20th century.

Ealing Comedy

This series looks at the impact the modestly budgeted movies have had on British humour. Throughout his exploration of the Ealing Comedies Richard is joined by a host of famous faces, comedy heroes and iconic filmmakers including Peter Capaldi, Michael Palin, Eric Idle and Paul Whitehouse, who all share their fond memories of the iconic brand.

What's more, Richard will visit some of the places that provided the backdrop to the most memorable film moments, such as the backstreets of Battersea and Bermondsey, Leeds Castle in Kent and not forgetting, Ealing Studios. To celebrate the new series Gold will also air a season of classic films including Passport to Pimlico, Kind Hearts and Coronets and The Lavender Hill Mob.
