Miranda Hart Profile

She's over 6 feet tall and probably the clumsiest TV comic since Frank Spencer.

Miranda Hart

She?s a bit posh

Miranda Katharine Hart Dyke, commonly known has Miranda Hart, has definitely made her mark on the British television landscape.

Miranda wouldn?t like you to think she?s posh but her family history does occupy several pages in Burke?s Peerage. Daughter of David Hart Dyke CBE, a retired naval officer and Diana Margaret Luce, Miranda was born in Torquay in 1972 and grew up in Petersfield, Hampshire.

She used to be a temp

She earned her comedy reputation from her stand-up and sketch shows at the Edinburgh Festival and on the London comedy circuit. She made her first foray north of the border way back in in 1994 and her last show at the Festival wasn?t until 2005. The following year she launched on to our screens in the sci-fi sitcom Hyperdrive with Nick Frost where she earned a British Comedy Award nomination. It was at this point that she was finally able to stop temping.

Before she got her own series Miranda played Barbara in Not Going Out with Lee Mack. She has also shown her face in Nighty Night, Smack the Pony, Ab Fab, The Vicar of Dibley and Jack Dee?s Lead Balloon.

Miranda

Her sitcom ?Miranda? has earned her four BAFTA nominations, three RTS awards and three Comedy Awards and not only that she gets to flirt outrageously and disastrously with the gorgeous Tom Ellis. It?s safe to say that in her very own sitcom Miranda is seriously uncool. It really doesn't matter what Miranda attempts in life, dating, dealing with her interfering mother, or even going on holiday, she always seems to fall flat, quite literally!

Miranda is a loyal supporter of Comic Relief, in fact one of her temp jobs was as a PA at the charity. She?s danced with a semi naked David Walliams, been part of the team that cycled from John O?Groats to Lands End and in 2013 she had a very Mad March when she travelled around the UK, completing unusual challenges in different cities.
