1. NAME OF COMPETITION:
Gold Christmas Crackers Joke Competition 2023 (the "Competition").
2. METHOD AND COST OF ENTRY:
Entry is free of charge via posts on X (formerly Twitter).
To enter, the entrant must tweet their original Christmas cracker joke via their personal X (Twitter) account handle, including the hashtag #GoldCrackers in their tweet entry (each an "Entry").
The Entry should be no more than 140 characters long in total, be festive in theme, family-friendly and topical to the events of the past year. Entrants must be following the @goldchannel account on X (formerly Twitter) throughout the entire competition window to be eligible to win (so UKTV can contact the winners).
3. SPECIFIC RESTRICTIONS:
All entrants must be over 18 years of age at the date of Entry and a legal resident in the UK.
All entrants must have the internet service or mobile device bill payer's permission prior to submitting an Entry.
As Entries are via X (formerly Twitter), entrants must also have a personal X account.
Entrants are allowed to submit multiple entries. No more than two entries from any one entrant will be eligible for a place on the shortlist to go to public vote. Entrants must be following @goldchannel on X (formerly Twitter) from the date they enter their joke during the Competition Period (being 09.00hrs Monday 2nd October 2023 to 11.59hrs Monday 16th October 2023) and up to and including 6th December 2023 in order to confirm receipt of their prize. Entrants will forfeit their right to a prize if they are not following @goldchannel on X during this time period as UKTV may not be able to contact the winner in order for them to claim their prize, however their jokes may still be used at UKTV's discretion.
Employees of UKTV, the Prize Provider named below and 3Gem (survey company on who's platform the jokes are voted on anonymously by the public), and their immediate families, are not eligible to enter the Competition. Any Entry that is unclear, incomplete, defaced, corrupt, illegal or misdirected will not be accepted. UKTV accepts no responsibility for lost entries, and proof of transmission entry will not be accepted as proof of receipt. UKTV accepts no liability for any invalid, incomplete entries or entries not received by UKTV. No 'bots' or similar automated third-party software will be allowed and anyone found using such software will be disqualified. Any alternative entrants will be selected according to these terms and conditions. By submitting the Entry to UKTV the entrant is declaring that it is their own original work, they are the creator of it (or have the creator's permission to submit it, with a copy of any such written permission to be supplied on request) and that the original work does not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrant agrees to fully indemnify UKTV against any actual or threatened claims or actions UKTV may be subject to in relation to your Entry.
Entries must not contain anything that could be viewed as indecent, inappropriate, defamatory, unlawful, offensive or represent a danger to health and safety. Any Entry that is found, at any time, to breach these terms and conditions or that otherwise contains prohibited, inappropriate or unlawful content as determined by UKTV, in its sole discretion, will be disqualified. UKTV shall have the right to remove an Entry from any and all online platforms at our sole discretion from time to time. The winners will be required to provide proof of identification and/or age before claiming the Prize. This can be in the form of a photo of a UK passport or UK driving license.
4. COMPETITION PERIOD:
The Competition will be open between 09.00 on 02 October 2023 to 23.59 on 16 October 2023, both dates inclusive (the "Competition Period").
Any Entry received outside of the Competition Period (for whatever reason) will be invalid but you may still be charged for the Entry where costs apply.
5. PRIZE:
There will be 10 prize winners (the "Winners").
Subject to these terms and conditions: The first place Winner will receive £1,500 experience and travel vouchers from Lastminute.com (separate terms and conditions may govern Winners' use of the vouchers and it is the Winners' responsibility to read such terms and conditions); 1 x festive hamper (of value up to £100); 1 x box of bespoke Gold Christmas crackers; a full-size novelty turkey costume from show 'Blood Actually: A 'Murder, They Hope' Mystery' as worn by Lee Mack; and for their joke to potentially be featured on-air during Gold ad-break(s); and The 9 runners-up will each receive 1 x festive hamper (of value up to £100); 1 x box of bespoke Gold Christmas crackers and for their joke to potentially be featured on-air during Gold ad-break(s), (together the "Prize").
6. WINNER SELECTION:
After the close of the Competition Period, a judging panel led by comedy critic Bruce Dessau that includes at least one independent judge, will shortlist the funniest, most festive, modern Entries between the 17 October 2023 and 02 November 2023 (both dates inclusive). The decision by the judging panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The 40 shortlisted Entries will then be put to an anonymous public vote by 2,000 UK representative British adults via the survey company 3Gem between the 03 November and 13 November 2022. The highest voted-for 10 Entries will win.
No Prizes will be awarded as a result of improper actions by or on behalf of an entrant. No alternative prize will be given and the Prize is non-transferable & non-exchangeable. However, UKTV reserves the right to change the Prize due to circumstances beyond its control or to offer an alternative of similar value. It is each Winner's responsibility and to assess whether the Prize is suitable and to read any instructions or manuals associated with the Prize. Each Winner agrees to absolve UKTV from any liability that may result from or is claimed to have resulted from participating in the Competition and/or from the acceptance or use of the Prize. Nothing in these terms and conditions in any way limits UKTV's (or any other person or organisation's) liability for fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Winners will be notified via direct message from @goldchannel on X (formerly Twitter) on 20 November 2023 that they have won, the direct message will instruct each Winner how to redeem their Prize (the "Prize Message").
The Winners should follow the instructions re how to redeem their Prize by 5pm on 24th November 2023 as set out in the Prize Message. Failure to follow such instructions within the timeline stipulated may result in the Prize being forfeited and an alternate Winner being selected. UKTV won't be liable if any Prize fails to reach a Winner or a Winner cannot receive it for reasons beyond our control
7. PUBLICITY AND DATA PROTECTION:
Entry to the Competition gives UKTV the right, without separate consent or compensation, to publicise any Winners' names and counties and to make further use of these in printed publications and on the internet, solely for administering this Competition in accordance with applicable law.
Entry to the Competition gives UKTV the right, without separate consent or compensation, to use each winning Entry on all UKTV platforms. This includes, without limitation, use of each winning Entry across UKTV channels, UKTV websites, UKTV's social media accounts and UKTV Play.
Each Winner will be required to provide their contact details (including their name, date of birth and postal address) to UKTV and/or the Prize Provider so that they can receive their Prize. Each Winner's personal details will only be used by UKTV and the Prize Provider for the purpose of administration of this Competition. Further information about how your personal details will be handled can be found in Schedule 1 (Privacy Notice), UKTV's Privacy Policy and the Prize Provider's Privacy Policy.
8. PROMOTER
This Competition is offered to you by UKTV Media Limited ("UKTV"). Our registered office is at 10 Hammersmith Grove, London W6 7AP and our company registration number is 04266373.
By entering this Competition you are submitting your details to UKTV and not to X (formerly Twitter, Inc). This Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by X (formerly Twitter, Inc.).
9. PRIZE PROVIDER
Taylor Herring Limited, registered at 1st Floor 2 Television Centre, 101 Wood Lane, London, England and Wales, United Kingdom, England, W12 7FR, company number: 05361673 (the "Prize Provider") shall fulfil delivery of each of the Prizes.
10. GOVERNING LAW:
These terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
