  1. NAME OF COMPETITION: GOLD's Christmas Cracker Competition 2016 (the "Competition").

  2. COMPETITION ENTRY: 2.1. To take part in the Competition, entrants must log into Twitter and follow @GoldTVChannel. Entrants must then send in their best original Christmas cracker joke ("Joke") to Gold's Twitter page via their personal Twitter handle, including the hashtag #GoldCrackers in their tweet entry.

2.2. The best Jokes as voted for by a comedy panel led by critic Bruce Dessau will be put to the public vote via an online survey and the highest-rated ten (10) best Jokes as voted for by the public will win a prize.

  1. PRIZES: 3.1. There will be ten (10) prize winners in total (each a "Winner").

3.2. The Winner with the highest-rated Joke will receive: i. £1,500 worth of holiday vouchers; and ii. a bespoke set of Christmas crackers which will include their winning joke (the "First Prize").

3.3. The nine (9) runners up will all receive a Christmas hamper and a bespoke set of Christmas crackers that will include the six (6) highest voted Jokes (the "Second Prize").

3.4. The First Prize and Second Prize are together the "Prizes".

3.5. No alternative prizes will be given and the Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable. However, UKTV reserves the right to change the Prizes due to circumstances beyond its control or to offer alternative prizes of similar value.

3.6. To the fullest extent permissible by law, each Winner agrees to absolve UKTV from any liability that may result from or is claimed to have resulted from participating in the Competition or from the acceptance or use of the Prizes.

3.7. It is the Winners' responsibility to pay any and all applicable taxes which may be due on the Prizes. 3.8. The Winners agree to absolve UKTV from any liability that may result from or is claimed to have resulted from participating in the Competition or from the acceptance or use of any Prize. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions in any way limits the Promoter (or any other person or organisation's) liability for fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.

  1. SPECIFIC RESTRICTIONS: 4.1. Jokes must be Christmas themed, suitable for a family audience, and include the hashtag #GoldCrackers with the entry on Twitter. The comedy judging panel is looking for modern festive jokes that put a comedy twist on the current news agenda or pop culture phenomenon.

4.2. Jokes must be a maximum of 140 characters including the hashtag.

4.3. Jokes must be entrant's own original creation. By entering this Competition and posting a Joke to the Gold Twitter page entrants warrant that they own the copyright in the Joke and they further grant UKTV the right to republish the Joke in any form and in perpetuity.

4.4. All entrants will need a Twitter account to participate in the Competition.

4.5. All entrants must follow @GoldTVChannel twitter account from their personal Twitter handle to validate their joke entry. @GoldTVChannel does not need to be part of the tweeted entry.

4.6. All entrants must be Eighteen (18) years of age or over at the date of entry and must be a legal resident in the United Kingdom.

4.7. Employees of UKTV, any company associated with the Competition and their immediate families are not eligible to enter the Competition.

4.8. The Winner of the First Prize must comply with the terms and conditions which can be found by clicking here.

  1. COMPETITION PERIOD: 5.1. The Competition will be open between 9am on 10th October 2016 and 11.59pm on 30th October 2016 (the "Competition Period"), with Winners being announced by midday on 13th December 2016 (the "Draw Date").

5.2. Any entries received outside of the Competition Period (for whatever reason) will be invalid but the entrant may still be charged for the entry where costs apply.

  1. WINNER SELECTION: 6.1. The best Jokes as voted for by a comedy panel led by critic Bruce Dessau will be put to the public vote and the top ten (10) highest-voted Jokes as voted for by the public will win a Prize.

6.2. UKTV shall have the final overall decision over Winner selection and this decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.

6.3. Winners will be contacted by the Promoter within seven (7) days of the Draw Date.

6.4. Winners may be asked to supply the name of the county in which they live so that their name and county may be posted on the Gold website for the purposes of administrating this Competition. For the avoidance of doubt Winners' details will only ever be used for the purposes of properly administrating this Competition in accordance with applicable law.

6.5. Each Winner must claim their Prize by responding to the Promoter's notification within fourteen (14) days of the Promoter's first notification being sent. Failure to claim the relevant prize within the timeline stipulated may result in the prize being forfeited and an alternate Winner being selected.

6.6. Winners should please allow twenty one (21) days for UKTV to contact them to arrange delivery of Prizes from the date the Prize is claimed. UKTV will not be liable if a Winner cannot accept the Prize for reasons beyond UKTV's control or if any other additional expenses arising out of acceptance of the Prize.

  1. METHOD OF ENTRY & COST: 7.1. Entrants can enter this Competition free of charge as per the process described in section 2.

  2. ENTRY LIMITATIONS: 8.1. Multiple original entries are permitted.

  3. PRIZE PROVIDER: 9.1. Taylor Herring Limited of 11 West Way Centre, 69 St Marks Road, London W10 6JG shall fulfil delivery of the holiday vouchers, the boxes of Christmas crackers and the Christmas hampers to the winner (holiday vouchers and crackers) and the runners up (crackers and hampers).
