Frank Pickle

Frank Pickle

Frank Pickle is an incredibly boring man. He's so dull that even David Horton - who has a morbid dislike of anything interesting - thinks he's dull.

A painfully pedantic Parish Council Secretary, Frank is never short of an anecdote or two. Unfortunately, a typical Frank anecdote would put a trainspotter in a coma. It says a lot that his top celebrity crush is Labour politician Margaret Beckett.

Played by John Bluthal

Unlike his Dibley alter-ego, actor John Buthal is really rather interesting. During his long career he's hung out with icons from every sphere of showbusiness. In the 60s and 70s he worked on programmes with the likes of Tony Hancock, Sid James, Eric Sykes, Benny Hill, Spike Milligan and, in 1966, he starred alongside the legendary silent comedian Buster Keaton in the movie A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

And next time you catch a repeat of the Bruce Willis sci-fi epic The Fifth Element, look out for John in the role of Professor Pickle. Sorry, we mean Professor Pacoli.
